Intercoolers are one of the most important components in any turbocharged vehicle. The fitting of an upgraded intercooler means that the charge inlet air is denser, allowing the engine to produce more power at the same boost level and increased power at higher boost levels. Factory intercoolers are often insufficient for higher boost levels, because they are susceptible to heat soak and are not usually designed for more than factory power.
